A forum titled the Sri Lanka – Singapore Business Forum which was held in Colombo revealed that a MOU to develop the Trincomalee region will reached with a singaporian company.

Minister of Development Startergies and International Trade, Malik Samarawickrama stated that they initiating work on a FDA with Singapore in order to harvest mutual benefits.

He added that Surbana Jurong had formulated the Western Megapolis development plan which is the center piece of the development program.

Minister of Trade and Industry, Singapore, S.Iswarawan stated that according to the initial study both Sri Lanka and Singapore can gain much from concluding a modern and comprehensive free trade agreement.

Explaining further he noted after all the studies have been finalized a decision can be made on how to proceed with a Sri Lanka Singapore trade agreement when PM Wickeremesinghe visits Singapore.
