President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed ministers to visit flood and landslide affected areas at least once a week and look into the needs of those affected.
The President issued these instructions during the Kegalle District Coordination Committee meeting on Wednesday (June 01st)
At the meeting held at the Kegalle Town Hall under the auspices of the President the welfare of those affected by landslides was also looked in to.
Minister’s Sajith Premadasa, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Lakshman Kiriella and S.B. Dissanayake as well as state officials were present for the occasion.
Speaking to media the Head of State said that its necessary to accelerate the welfare and relief of those affected by the weather and the government has no money related issue in providing funds for this process.
” We will immediately release the required amount of money without any delay within the confines of the relevant estimates being provided accordingly. We entrust the full responsibility of constructing homes, schools and other essential buildings to the tri-forces, its civil engineers and other construction sectors. So no tender procedure is needed for this purpose. This will be approved via Cabinet approval ” stressed President Maithripala Sirisena.
