IS fights back Iraqi troops storming in to Fallujah

IS militants have been putting up a tough resistance against Iraqi forces on the outskirts of Fallujah, as they attempt to retake the key city held by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) armed group

According to army officers ,a day after troops advanced through the southern suburb of Nuaimiya, scores of IS fighters attacked them. Sources say that the army defeated the attackers but suffered casualties

Aid workers are increasingly concerned for the safety of 50,000 civilians said to be trapped in Fallujah with reports of people starving to death and of being killed for refusing to fight for IS
