World Labour Day celebrated today; over 20 rallies in Sri Lanka

World Labour Day is celebrated across the world in commemoration of those who made sacrifices to protect their rights and overcame challenges. In commemoration of these sacrifices, approximately 20 rallies are to be held within Colombo and other towns.

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party will commence their rally at 3.00 p.m. at the Samanala grounds in Galle.

President Maithripala Sirisena will be the chief guest at this event. The May Day rally will commence at 1.00 p.m.  from the Galle Modara Hospital and near the entrance to the Southern Expressway in Galle.

Media spokesperson for the United National Party, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam says that the UNP rally will commence at 2.00 p.m.  at the Campbell park in Borella. Minister Rajitha Senaratne says that the National Democratic Movement rally will leave Hyde Park and join th UNP rally at the Borella junction.

Propoganda Secretary Vijith Herath said that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna rally will take place at the B.R.C grounds in Colombo.

Chief Secretary of the United Socialist Party, Siritunga Jaysuriya said that their rally would take place at the Kosgas junction in Colombo.
