The Minister of Power and Energy says that steps have been taken to provide relief to consumers whose electricity meters and electricity cables were damaged due to the inclement weather.

Sulakshana Jayawardene, Spokesman for the Ministry  said that electricity meters and cables will be installed by the CEB free of charge. Jayawardene further stated that if any consumer has a problem with the internal wiring of their homes, then it needs to be checked immediately. He also noted that officers from the CEB are carrying out a voluntary programme for consumers, to advise and recommend solutions on such issues.
