Group of Seven finance ministers, central bankers and participating professors gathered early in the morning on Friday (May 20) to discuss the future of global economy in Sendai, Japan.

The three-day summit kicked off on Thursday (May 19), with a welcoming reception hosted by Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso, and Bank of Japan President, Haruhiko Kuroda.

The health of the world economy is expected to be a major focus during the summit, and the topic of tax evasion and avoidance will likely be discussed also, in the wake of the so-called “Panama Papers.”

The meeting will pave the ground for a G7 leaders’ summit next week, where measures to boost global growth will be high on the agenda.
