The Department of Irrigation points out that the water level of the Kelani river is still rising due to flood waters.
It was reported that at 4 this morning, that the water level of the Kelani River as indicated on the water gauge in Nagalagama Street was 7.3ft.
Meanwhile the District Secretary of Colombo says that 150,000 person are affected following the floods in the area.
He added that rescue operations had been underway since last night.
Meanwhile the District Secretary of Gampaha noted that 122,230 persons are affected by the floods in the area adding that 5 persons had died.
