Questions were raised at a media briefing that there exists separate group known as the Joint opposition led by Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Convening the conference, Former Minister, Mervin Silva stated that they are not the joint opposition as he will commence work as the organiser of the joint opposition represented by the group gathered at present.

Explaining further he added their intention is to call all corrupt persons, murderers to be arrested and punished immediately. The government will also be called upon to fulfill promises made to people and to resolve burning issues.

He added that he was responsible for the victory of the UNP in the Kelaniya electorate as Basil Rajapaksa earned limitless amounts of money, took away property belonging to people and when he started speaking out, Gotabaya Rajapaksa had had sent out a foreigner to a club to cause trouble with his son, which resulted in the imprisonment of his son.

He went on to note that the victory commenced with Rathana Thera’s declaration and the crossover of Ministers Patali Champika, Rajitha Seneratne, Gunawardene but he couldn’t go because his sons life was endangered — therefore he took UNP to the path of victory.

In addition he noted that two people in his electorate were abducted in white vans, which was on the instructions of Gotabaya, and they will testify as the police itself noted that when his son attacked at Odel, the vehicle was from the president’s house led by the former soldier known as Tissa.

Furthermore, he added that they attempted to abduct his son and murder him as the government had erased all CCTV footage.
