Pirith ceremonies observed ahead of Sirasa Vesak Zone

Pirith ceremonies were observed on Saturday night at the places of worship from which sacred relics will be brought to the Sirasa Vesak Zone.

The Sirasa Vesak Zone will be held on May 21,  22 and 23, at the premises of the MTV/MBC Head Office at Braybrooke Place in Colombo 2.

The vehicular parade that will bring the Sacred Hair Relic, the Sacred Bone Relic and the relics of 16 Arahants, to the Sirasa Vesak Zone will commence its journey from the International Buddhist Centre in Nelligala, Kandy on Tuesday.

A pirith ceremony was held at the Viharaya on Saturday night, to invoke blessings for the journey.

Meanwhile, the vehicular parade that will bring the Agrashawaka relics of the Arahants Sariputta and Moggallana to the Sirasa Vesak Zone, will commence on May 17 at the Historic Kiri Vehera in Kataragama.
