Twenty eight persons were injured when a private bus met with an accident in the Nagashandiya area in Kalutara North.
Speaking to News 1st, OIC of Kalutara North Inspector Pradeep Ananda Silva said that the lack of maintenance of the road had resulted in the accident.
It has been reported that the driver had lost control of the bus when it drove into an dilapidated man-hole on the road.
The OIC said that the bus had toppled over. Our correspondents reported that such dangerous locations on the roads were discussed at the District Development Committee Meetings.
The Road Development Authority and the institutions working on the telecommunication cables had been informed in writing of the dangers caused by the dilapidated man-hole.
