Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma intervened on Monday to enroll a child into Grade One at the Kalutara Vidyalaya. He accompanied a child to Kalutara Vidyalaya this morning and met with the school principal and questioned why the child had not been enrolled, despite having scored 91 marks in the interview.

Deputy Minister of Internal Cultural and Wayamba Development, Palitha Thewarapperuma stated that if he is attempting to show off army connections there is no point in talking,  since he is present to speak about the child’s issue.

The principal noted that there is no way they could enroll any child outside the list since he has been cut off the list because they went to inspect the location on three occasions.

Thereafter, the mother of the child noted that they arrived only once. She also noted that one day the principal spoke to them. She alleged that  he asked her to “get lost” and told not to come through the gate.

After several discussions the boy was enrolled to the school today.
