No confidence in Chief Executive Officer – SriLankan Airlines pilots declare

The Sunday Times newspaper revealed today that SriLankan Airlines pilots have declared that they have “no confidence” in their Chief Executive Officer Captain Suren Ratwatte.

The newspaper reports that the the accusations are contained in a letter written by the President of the Airline Pilots’ Guild of Sri Lanka, Captain Renuke Senanayake.

The letter had been addressed to the Chairman of Sri Lankan Airlines Ajit Dias, after the pilots held an extraordinary general meeting on April 26.

The President of the Airline Pilots’ Guild of Sri Lanka, in his letter, has stated that the statements made by the CEO of Sri Lankan Airlines at a meeting that was held on April 21, 2016, were threatening and demeaning to the pilot community.

In addition, the letter reads that according to these statements, the antagonistic and threatening language used by the CEO, and his demonstrated lack of competency in his capacity, the ALPGSL membership has unanimously decided to place on record their loss of confidence in the current CEO Capt. Suren Ratwatte.

When contacted by News 1st, CEO of Sri Lankan Airlines Captain Suren Ratwatte stated that he cannot express any views on the matter as he had not yet seen the article published in the newspaper.

News 1st als contacted the Communications Manager at Sri Lankan Airlines, Deepal Perera, who stated that he will make a statement on the matter tomorrow after holding discussions with the Chairman of SriLankan Airlines.
