According to the Department of Meteorology, showers or thundershowers may occur at several places particularly after 2.00 p.m.
Few showers are likely in the Eastern and Southern coastal areas. Fairly heavy rain fall (above 50mm) are also likely at some places particularly in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces.
The Department warned that there may be temporary localised strong winds during thundershowers and urged the general public to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by lightning activity.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre says that the sluice gates of the Udawalawe reservoir have been closed. Five sluice gates were opened up to one and half feet on Saturday, May 07.
