Education Ministry issues special statement over weather conditions

The Ministry of Education stated that all principals have been given advice by the Ministry of health on the necessary action to be taken with regard to school children during the prevailing warm weather conditions.

The Ministry of Education issued a statement that school time-table hours will not be changed during the current circumstances.

Meanwhile, Director General of Health Services, Dr. Palitha Maheepala stated that it is better to end school at 12 p.m. due to the prevailing warm weather conditions. He also added that school children may be subjected to many ailments due to being exposed to the prevailing warm weather.

The Ministry of Health has recommended to the the Ministry of Education that the decision to end schools at 12 p.m in the North Central and Eastern Provinces should be suspended.

Dr. Palitha Maheepala went on to state that a number of number of proposals have been forwarded in order to minimise the risk of students being subjected to ailments due to the weather.

News1s made inquiries from educational authorities on the move to conclude school hours  at 12 in p.m. in the North Central and Eastern Provinces. They stated that a decision will be made today.
