Leicester City were crowned Barclays Premier League champions for the first time after Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Monday.
Leicester City, which was promoted to England’s Premier League only two years ago and flirted with relegation just last spring, capped one of the most remarkable seasons in soccer history without kicking a ball. It clinched its first Premier League title on Monday after second-place Tottenham tied at Chelsea.
It’s the first top-tier title for Leicester in the club’s 132-year history and the club is only the sixth since 1992 to win the title.
They have suffered only three defeats in the league all season, with Arsenal beating them twice and Liverpool proving to be too strong at Anfield in December.
Leicester City will be awarded the Trophy after their home match with Everton on Saturday (7).
Next season, Leicester City will make its first appearance in the UEFA Champions League.
