TCMOL prepares to launch Sinhala film for SL audiences

The Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited is prepared to introduce a new Sinhala film to its Sri Lankan Cinema audiences. The launching ceremony for the film took place on Tuesday, April 26 at the auditorium of the Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited Head Office.

In 1981 , The Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited introduced the Tamil film Thee starring Indian Superstar Rajanikanth. The organisation had selected Indian film  Drushyam as its second creation.

Group Director, Electronic Media Business TCMOL, Nedra Weerasinghe stated that it is the right time to venture into film production. Explaining further,  she noted that the Capital Maharaja Organisation is a company which thinks about the future – and is also recognised as Sri Lanka’s National Media, as they have taken an active role in preserving arts.

She added that with the launch of Dharmayuddaya, which is the beginning of their venture into film-making, is also a part of their entertainment offer to Sri Lankan audiences.

She added that the industry would benefit from this venture and provide opportunities to many such talented people as well as provide employment and bring about an increase in the film-going audiences in Sri Lanka, who are looking for quality entertainment.

Producer of Dharmayuddaya, Chamanth Raj stated that there were certain things for film-making, and went on to note that he was very fortunate to work in a group which understands and which motivates him and also stands with them throughout.

The film, first produced in Malayalam in 2013 was later remade in four different languages. The movie titled Papanaasam produced in Tamil featured the performance of the famous actor Kamal Hasan. This movie was translated to the Sinhala Language under the title Dharmayuddaya. Actors Jackson Anthony and Dilhani Ashokamala have been cast in the lead roles of the movie which will begin filming on April 29.

Actor, Jackson Anthony stated that it is a wise decision taken by MTV / MBC to revive the the cinema industry which is losing its place. Explaining further, he noted that it is of paramount importance since a movie has been created together with a group that is not aiming to bring it down.

He added that he considers this movie as an Asian movie and it cannot be classified to one particular area.
