Sweden’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Margot Wallström arrived at the Ministry of Foreign affairs on the morning Monday, April 25.
The visiting Swedish foreign Minister was welcomed by Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Harsha de Silva. The Swedish Foreign Minister signed the guest book at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following which bilateral discussions were held.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mangala Samaraweera stated that they had discussions on working together for the benefit of the people and the democratic dividend.
Explaining further, he added that methods to strengthen their partnership were discussed. He also extended Sri Lanka’s appreciation of Sweden’s continued development assistance over the last fifty years. By June a number of bills will be introduced in parliament to create an even more efficient and dynamic, secure business environment conducive for Investment.
Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Margot Wallström stated that Sweden and Sri Lanka have a long standing relationship and both countries have an interest in strengthening lateral co-operation and also many of the issues which were mentioned before.
She added that she has welcomed the Sri Lankan government’s policy of active engagement, and involvement with the international community.
