Sanhindagama, the third Udagama village, constructed by the good governance regime, was declared open in Hambantota on Sunday. The village of Sanhindagama comprises of 30 homes.
Minister of Housing and Construction Sajith Premadasa who declared open the village also provided loans for the construction of 200 more houses. The minister also provided land deeds to 300 individuals.
Fifty (50) people were given employment in construction jobs, during the event.
“What happened after four years?” questioned the Minister of Housing and Construction, Sajith Premadasa, who pointed out that they cut off the GSP plus concession that was provided to the country and also started closing down factories.
“I have to say with joy, that the European Union will restore the GSP plus concession before the end of this year”, said the Minister, who added that when that concession is granted, industrial zones will be re-established not at the provincial level, but at the sub-divisional level.
