A religious sermon was organised on Friday morning at the Chaithya premises at the Colombo Harbour, to mark the 79th birth anniversary of the late Reggie Ranatunga who was a senior minister from the Sri Lanka freedom Party. A group including the Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranatunga and the Chairman of the Ports Authority Dhammika Ranatunga were present at the time.
“I came across a statement former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has made saying that the port authority is undergoing losses. That’s not true”, said the Minister of Ports and Shipping, who pointed out that losses were reduced but there are responsibility and the debts cannot be avoided just because they were taken during the previous government
“We as a government will have to settle those debts”, said the minister
The completion of one year of permanent appointments to the members of the ‘Piya Puthu Seva Foundation’ was also marked at the event.
