The Consumer Affairs authority has decided to file legal action against 2000 traders who allegedly violated consumer rights during the festive season.
The authority stated that raids were conducted countrywide from mid-March to April 12.
Traders who allegedly committed offences as selling expired goods, selling goods at exorbitant prices, and traders who failed to display the price of goods, were identified in the raids.
Chairman of the Consumers affairs authority Hasitha Tillekeratne said that a majority traders who committed the offences were from the Kandy, Colombo, Gampaha and Kurunegala Districts.
