News 1st, on Thursday, April 14, reported about an incident where a thief broke into the Laggala Police station while three police officers were on duty, and left with a loot of one T-56 and five revolvers.

The three police officers who were on duty at the station were hospitalised to find out if they were under the influence of alcohol at the time. Today, the three officers have been interdicted.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is in control of the investigations into the incident, while an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) is leading the inquiry on the three police officers who were on duty at the police station at the time of the theft.

The Police Special Task Force (STF) searched the area surrounding the police station with the assistance of Police K9 units to locate the suspect. According to the News 1st correspondent, the K9 unit left through the back-door of the station and returned to the exact same spot.

Eighty (80) police officers attached to the station in question had their holiday leave cancelled on Friday, April 15, as a result of the incident.
