A demonstration took place on Thursday April 7 against the proposed coal power plant in Sampur. The demonstration was staged by the ‘Coastal Aadi-vaasi’ / Coastal indigenous community living in close proximity to the site of the proposed coal power plant.

They charge that, the proposed power plant, if built, will affect their livelihood which mainly depends on trees and other natural means. They allege that their chena  lands are being used directly for the construction site.

The demonstrators request the authorities to cease the plan to go ahead with the construction.
