The 1st round of games in the UEFA quarter finals took place this week

Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid

Barcelona took on Atletico Madrid at Nou camp and ended with a 1 goal lead on aggregate.

The La Liga table leaders and defending champs held their defence but was unconvincing in their win. It was Fernando Torres who opened the scoring for Atletico. Barcelona came in to the second half to face a 10 man Atletico, who lost Torress to a red card before half time. Suarez score twice consecutively to give Barcelona the win.

BayernMunich vs Benifica

Arturo Vidal’s goal within 2 minutes in to the games gave Bayern the lead. However BayernMunich struggled to find a way through a tough Benifica defense.The visitors could have snatched a draw when Jonas’ second-half strike was blocked by Javi Martinez.

The french side took on the premier league team in a thrilling game that ended in a draw. Kevin de Bruyne opened the scoring with clinical finish following Joe Hart keeping the ball from hitting the back of the net off a Zlatan Penalty. Ibrahimovic managed to score the equalizer and Adrien Rabiot tapped in after the break to put French champions PSG in front. Fernandinho’s scuffed effort gave Man.city a valuvable goal heading in the next game at Eitihad Stadium.

Wolfsburg vs Real Madrid

Real Madrid suffered their first defeat in the Champions League this season when they were surprisingly beaten 2-0 at VfL Wolfsburg.The hosts were awarded a controversial penalty when Casemiro was deemed to have fouled Andre Schurrle, and Ricardo Rodriguez converted from the spot. Real poor defense gave the German side another chance to score during the second half and a rapid attack ended with Bruno Henrique setting up Max Arnold for the second
