Inspector General of Police N. K. Illangakoon called on President Maithripala Sirisena on Thursday to formally inform the president of his retirement.
Speaking on the occasion President Maithripala Sirisena said that outgoing IGP Illangakoon fulfilled his duties and responsibilities in protecting the dignity of his office. The president also appreciated the great service rendered by N. K. Illangakoon as the IGP over the last five years, and wished him well for his future endeavours.
The meeting took place at the President’s official residence. IGP N. K. Illangakoon is scheduled to retire on April 11.
