The Colombo Municipal Council said that a special programme will commence from today, Wednesday, April 6, to inspect sites where food items, are being sold on the sidewalks in the city of Colombo in line with the festive season.
Chief Medical Officer of Health at the Colombo Municipal Council Dr. Ruwan Wijeyamuni said that the programme will mainly focus on the selling expired food items and sweet meats during the festive season.
The inspections are due to be conducted in Borella, Fort and Pettah.
He also urged the general public to be aware of the expiry date of food items, and always check whether dates have been tampered with.
