The report on the death of a youth in Embilipitiya, which is alleged to have occurred as a result of a clash with the police, has been handed over to the National Police Commission.
General Secretary of the Commission, Ariyadasa Cooray stated that the charge sheets on relevant police officers have been formulated, following recommendations of the committee.
The General Secretary of the National Police Commission stated that the police officers were subjected to investigations to find out whether any disciplinary protocols were breached.
He went on to state that a meeting by the commission will be held on Thursday in order to reach a decision in this regard. A formal disciplinary investigations team will be formed in order to look into the disciplinary hearing and reasons given by the police officers involved.
