The Colombo Crimes Division informed Court on Friday that the reports by the judicial medical officers confirm that of the eight Indian nationals who were recently arrested over a kidney scam, six kidneys belonging to six of the suspects, had been removed.
These facts were revealed when the case was taken up before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court on Friday morning.
It was further revealed, upon questioning the suspects, that one kidney had been sold for Indian Rs.500,000, and that the suspects were yet to receive the promised amounts.
The Colombo Crimes Division informed court that 286 documents had been seized from the possession of the suspects, which had been sent through Interpol to India to be submitted for further investigations.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peries ordered for the suspects to be further remanded until May 4.
