Alleged drug lord Wasantha Mendis, considered to be one of the largest drug peddlers in the South, who arrested in Thailand recently, was brought to Sri Lanka on Saturday.

The Negombo Magistrate’s Court issued a red notice in 2013 enabling law enforcement to arrest Wasantha Medis in any country. Law enforcement made a breakthrough and obtained information about this suspect in 2013, following the arrest of a Liberian National with 30 kilogrammes of Heroin.

Wasantha Mendis arrived at the Katunayake International Airport at around 01:20 on Saturday morning. He was handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau. He was produced at the Negombo Courts where detention orders were obtained.
