The prize-giving ceremony of the Mayurapada Central College was held under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena. Upon his arrival, the President was accorded a warm welcome by the students of Mayurapada Central College.
President Maithripala Sirisena declared open a computer laboratory and a sports ground at the school after which he attended the prize-giving ceremony.
President Sirisena stated that the general public is not aware that the Human Rights commission in Geneva has been convened this year. He added that at present all nation led by the United Nations (UN) affirmed democracy, freedom and human rights within the policy framework of the new government.
Explaining further, he noted that the electric chair which was spoken for five years has been removed from their discussions and dictionaries.
