The National Water Supply and Drainage Board says that operations at the Kalutara Kethhena and Matara Nadhugala Water Treatment Centre have been temporarily halted.

General Manage, Ranjith Balasuriya says that these steps were taken as a result of the build up of salt water in the Kalu and Nilwala Rivers.

As a result of the ceasing of operations at the Nadhugala Water Treatment Centre, water supply to the Kottegoda, Devundara and Matara Municipal Council areas have been disrupted.
