A key suspect in the attacks in Brussels has been arrested, Belgian media say, quoting judicial sources.

Najim Laachraoui, thought to be the man on the right in a CCTV image taken before the Zaventem airport attack, was reportedly held in the Anderlecht area.

Two suicide bombers who struck Brussels were identified on Wednesday as brothers linked to the prime suspect in the November 13 Paris attacks, as a manhunt for a third assailant in Belgium’s bloodiest terror assault gained pace.

They have been named by Belgian media as the brothers Khalid and Brahim el-Bakraoui.

The RTBF broadcaster quoted a police source as saying Brahim was a suicide bomber at Zaventem airport. Twin explosions there killed 14 people.

It said Khalid was the suicide bomber at the Maelbeek metro station, where about 20 people died.

Meanwhile Belgium is observing three days of national mourning following the attack.
