The 2016 graduation ceremony of the South Eastern University was held on Sunday March 20.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of the university’s Vice Chancellor Prof. A. Mohammed Ishaq at the BMICH. President Maithripala Sirisena attended the ceremony as its chief guest.
“I see a need for the administration and management of the university sector in the country to be restructured”, said the President who pointed out that the intention of this move is to provide the children of this country with a better tomorrow than today.
The president elaborated on the meeting he had with the students of the South Eastern University, where they presented the issues they face. He further noted that children staged various protests and raised their voices for the improvement of their respective educational institutions.
“We as a government, at all times, affirm that right and responsibility to you”, said the President who explained that education is a right and responsibility.
