CEB union members make observations on Minuwangoda explosion

Employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board Union charges that the reason behind the explosion of the transformer at the Kotugoda, Minuwangoda sub-station was because proper maintenance activities was not conducted properly.

General Secretary of the union Ranjan Jayalal stated that “this is not an act of sabotage.” He went on to note that maintenance activities were not conducted properly because employees were engaged in overtime work hours at the CEB.

In addition, he noted that punishment should be meted out to senior officials responsible for this situation at the CEB .

Meanwhile, the  Minister of Power and Renewable energy said that investigations are being conducted into every aspect of the incident.
