The sixth Asian Development Forum took place in Colombo on Friday under the auspices of Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake.
The Asian Development Forum was established in 2010 to communicate the development issues in Asia, with the international communities. The main motive of the 6th Asian Development Forum was to discuss the concerns of the Asian economies over the implementation of the 2030 agenda of sustainable development. Vice President of the Asian Development Bank Bambang Susantono also graced the event.
Minister of Finance, Ravi Karunanayake, noted that internalisation of agenda 2030 will be a good starting point for Sri Lanka and according to his excellency president Maithripala Sirisena addressing UN General Assembly, in last August 2015, Sri Lanka pledged to continue the work with the UN and other states to achieve the specific development goals by year 2030 with special focus on poverty alleviation, achieving food security, energy, education, minimising income disparity and urban development
He further noted that Sri Lanka has a favourable and stable political leadership and is bestowed with the human and economic potential to initiate the 2030 agenda successfully.
