Two bombings have devastated the town of Baidoa located in South Central Somalia leaving at least 40 dead and 70 more injured.

The town is a key location in the African Union’s fight against Al-Shabaab. A female suicide bomber detonated herself at a restaurant in Baidoa and a car bomb exploded near a pharmacy. The blasts follow a pair of attack on Friday.

Al-Shabaab is the Islamist extremist group that has been terrorising Somalia and neighbouring nations for years.
