Twenty four new district and electoral organisers were appointed to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party on Monday.
The appointments were made under the auspices of President Maithripala Sirisena at the president’s official residence this morning.
Seventeen electoral organisers and five district organisers were appointed. Western Province Chief Minister Isuru Devapriya was appointed as the Organiser for the Maharagama Electorate in the Colombo District while Attorney-at-Law Keerthi Udawatte was appointed as the Organiser for the Dehiwala Electorate.
Provincial Councillor Hector Bethmage was appointed to the Colombo West Electorate, while Prasanna Solangarachchi was appointed as Electoral Organzer for Kolonnawa.Sumith Wijemuni Zoysa was appointed as the new Electoral Organiser for Avissawella.
Ruwan Ranatunga was appointed Organiser of the Minuwangoda Electorate in the Gampaha District while Sanjaya Siriwardena was appointed co-organizer for the Mirigama Electorate. Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe was appointed Electoral Organiser for Panadura.
Western Province Minister Ranjith Somawansa was appointed Organiser for the Agalawatte Electorate while Sumith Lal Mendis was appointed Co-organiser for the Kalutara Electorate. Chandima Rajaputra received the letter of appointment for the post of Organiser of the Matara Electorate.
Minister S.B. Dissanayake was appointed Organiser for the Hewaheta Electorate in the Kandy District. Provincial Councillor Thilina Bandara Tennakoon was appointed Organiser for the Senkadagala Electorate while Manel Bandara Abeyratne was appointed the new organizer to Udunuwara.Mahinda Abeykoon was appointed as the organizer for the Kandy electorate while Mohammed Samsan was appointed as organizer of the Akurana elecorate. Son of late M.K.A.D.S. Gunewardena, Nalin Gunewardena was appointed Organiser of the Seruwila Electorate in the Trincomalee District.
Meanwhile, seven appointment letters for the post of district organisers were also presented today.
President Sirisena presented letters of appointments to son of State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene, Pasanda Yapa Abeywardene and Nalin Ranaweera to the posts of Co-organisers to the Matara District.
Sujeewa Chandrasiri was appointed to the Colombo District while Anju Sri Sham Perera was appointed Organiser to the Gampaha District.
Asanka Ediriweera was appointed Organiser to the Kalutara District while Channa Saliya Mendis and Thisara Gunasinghe were appointed organisers to the Galle District.
President Sirisena requested the new appointees to work with dedication and responsibility for the country and its people by extensively organising the Sri Lanka Freedom Party
General Secretary of the SLFP, Minister Duminda Dissanayake noted that steps have commenced to reform, transform and strengthen the Sri Lanka Freedom Party as a political party which stands for the people.
With the appointment of a set of new organisers to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, several members of the party who held the post of “organiser” have lost their positions.
MP Prasanna Ranatunga lost his position as Organizer of the Minuwangoda Electorate while Dilum Amunugama and Duminda Silva lost their positions as organizers of the Senkadagala and Kolonnawa electorates respectively.
Kanthi Kodikara lost her Maharagama electorate, Dhanasiri Amaratunge the Dehiwala electorate while Attorney-at-Law Senerath Jayasundara has his lost position as Organizer of the Colombo West electorate.
