The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is on the verge of splitting, says Attorney-at-Law Upul Gunasekara. He made this statement while addressing a media briefing held by a group of intellectuals supporting the SLFP.

Gunasekara stated that certain individuals are conspiring to split the SLFP and that these persons are not connected to the party but are using the SLFP to form a new alliance to enter parliament and enjoy the benefits.

At the same event, Attorney-at-Law Nalin Mahesh Perera pointed out that the group plying to create a new party by breaking the SLFP include the retired Chief Justice (CJ) Sarath N.Silva, who admitted to handing out wrong verdicts as a judge and making the country face an ill-fate.

Nalin Perera noted that it is the same person who is now linking the Sirasa Media Network to the LTTE. Perera said that a couple of years after creating a licence to kill those at the Sirasa Media Network and set it on fire, Silva would say that he made a mistake and that he can do nothing.
