Chairman of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Missing Persons, Former High Court Judge Maxwell Paranagama said that the mandate of the commission has been extended.
The chairman added that officers of the commission are yet to be notified of the extension. He also said that the commission had requested the president to extend the mandate of the commission as it had expired on Monday.
Therefore, the commission will be active for a short period of time. Chairman of the commission Maxwell Paranagama said that the extension will be used to look into complaints that have not yet been investigated.
The extension will be utilised to compile the final report, following the conclusion of investigations.
