The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has decided to expand the number of shops selling food necessary for a pregnant mothers nutrition.
Secretary to the Ministry, Chandrani Senaratne said at present, there is only one such shop in each divisional secretariat and pregnant mothers are facing hardships as a result.
Accordingly, the number of sales representatives who are able to acquire such items, have been increased.
The Secretary requested that all pregnant mothers who are not currently receiving the nutrition allowance file a complaint with either the Early Childhood Development Officer at the Divisional Secretariat or the Divisional Secretary.
