Use power for the betterment of the people – President Sirisena urges politicians

President Maithripala Sirisena says that the politicians’ responsibility is to use power for the betterment of people and the country. President Sirisena made this statement at an event held at the Parliamentary Complex on Thursday February 11.

A portrait of late President D. B. Wijetunga was unveiled opposite the Prime Minister’s Office at the Parliamentary Complex on Thursday.  Public representatives and the relatives of late President D. B. Wijetunga were among those who were present for the event.

Speaking at the event President said that the common nature of the world politics is power corrupts the politicians, adding that over the decades, only a handful of persons were away from world and national politics, where politicians were ruined through their own power and power that led to corruption.
