India continues to dominate SAG 2016

India continues to dominate the South Asian Games with 80 Gold Medals as they won four more Gold medals on Wednesday. Sri Lanka who trail in second place, have seventeen Gold medals to their name.

India, the world’s second most populous nation, boasts of a population of 1.3 billion people.

India has won 80 Gold medals, 37 Silver medals and 10 Bronze medals thus far in the 12th of the South Asian Games. Sri Lanka currently boasts of 17 Gold medals, 37 Silver medals and 34 Bronze medals.

At the 2010 South Asian Games, Sri Lanka was able to clinch only 16 Gold medals in total. However, this time, Sri Lanka has managed to surpass Pakistan and Bangladesh who were placed second and third in the 2010 Games.

Sri Lankan sportsmen and women will compete in a number of events today and Sri Lanka can hope for several medals in those disciplines.
