UNHC for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein to visit Jaffna

United Nations High commissioner for Human Rights, Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein who is in the country on an official tour, is scheduled to visit Jaffna on Sunday.

The high commissioner is scheduled to hold discussions with the Governor of Northern Province, H.M.G.S. Palihakkara and Chief Minister of the Northern Province, C.V. Vigneswaran.

Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein is also scheduled to visit an IDP camp in Jaffna and go on an observation tour to Nallur. Thereafter, the UN High Comissioner for Human Rights will make his way to Trincomalee and them meet with the Chief Minister and the Governor of the Eastern province.

The UN High comissioner for Human Rights, Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein who is in the country on a four-day official visit, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mangala Samaraweera on Saturday. Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein is scheduled to hold discussions with the President, Prime Minister and the opposition leader.

The United Nations office in Colombo notified that the UN High Comissioner for Human Rights, would speak at a media conference on February 9.
