CEA takes shop-keepers to court over polythene

The Central Environment Authority has taken steps to file legal action against seven shops selling polythene which is less than 20 microns.

Director of the Waste Management Unit, Ajith Weerasundara noted that these shops were identified after conducting raids in the Colombo District.

He added that manufacturers and sellers of polythene of less than 20 microns will be nabbed following raids from Monday, February 8, on wards at  district level.
