UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein arrived in the country on Saturday morning, on a four-day official visit.
During his visit, Prince Zeid Raád Al Hussein will call on President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Leader of Opposition, among others.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights is scheduled to visit Colombo, Jaffna, Trincolmalee and Kandy. The UN office in Colombo said, Prince Zeid Raád Al Hussein will hold a press conference prior to the end of his visit on February 9.
This is his first visit to Sri Lanka following the retirement of Navanethem Pillay, the former UN Human Rights High Commissioner.
