The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein is due in Sri Lanka on a four-day official visit on Saturday, February 6.
He is arriving in the country following an invitation by the government. During his visit, Prince Zeid Raád Al Hussein will call on President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Leader of Opposition, among others.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights is scheduled to visit Colombo, Jaffna, Trincolmalee, and Kandy. The UN office in Colombo said, Prince Zeid Raád Al Hussein will hold a press conference prior to the end of his visit, on February 9.
This is his first visit to Sri Lanka following the retirement of Navanethem Pillay, the former UN Human Rights High Commissioner.
