Police investigate killing at Nattandiya gathering of ‘past-pupils’

An individual was killed in a shooting which took place during a party in the Marawila area in Nattandiya on Wednesday February 3.

According to the police, two suspects have been arrested over the incident which unfolded at a reception hall in Nattandiya during a gathering of past-pupils of a leading school in the area. The clash broke out when a heated argument spiraled out of control.

The victim of the incident was a 39-year-old businessman named Susantha Kurukulasuriya – a father of two.

Police stated that the suspect arrested over the shooting, H.A.K. Asiri, had a dislike towards the victim. The suspect is also a past pupil of the school, and is alleged to have closely associated with the victim. Police added that the revolver and the repeating rifle which were seized from the possession of the suspect, were licensed firearms.
