The Department of National Zoological Gardens has decided to establish two new wild life conservation centres. The Acting Director General of the Department, Dhammika Mulsinghe said that under these conservation centres measures would be taken to conserve endangered species of animals.
Additionally the centres would be using scientific methods to breed local and foreign endangered species. Such scientifically bred animals will then be released to the wild.
He added that they are to further expand the investigations and operations that are being carried around the vicinity of zoos.
