The Police Headquarters stated that a special traffic plan will be in place on Saturday, January 30 in line with rehearsals for the 68th Independence Day Ceremony.

Issuing a communique, the Police Headquarters stated that the traffic plan will be in place from today till February 2.

Thereby, vehicular movement on Galle Road, from the Galle Face Roundabout to the Old Parliament roundabout and Chaithya road will be restricted from 5 a.m. to 12 noon starting Saturday.

The communique further reads that from 7.15 a.m. to 12 noon onward, only office vehicles and buses will be permitted to travel on Galle Road, from  Colpetty Junction to the Galle Face roundabout.

Police stated that only office vehicles will be permitted to travel on Lotus Road, Ceramic Junction and the road leading to Old Parliament road, from 8.30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Furthermore, only office vehicles will be allowed on Janadipathi Mawatha and the road from Bank Avenue to Old Parliament Road from 8.15 am to 12 noon.

The communique adds that buses, heavy vehicles and light vehicles that travel along Galle Road, can enter Colombo through Colpetty Junction, Liberty Junction, Piththala Junction, Regal Junction, Ceramic Junction and Fort, from   tomorrow to  February 2.

Vehicles travelling from Colombo to Fort will be granted access to Galle Road through Ceramic Junction, Library Roundabout, Liberty Junction, and R.A. De Mel Mawatha.
