Minister S.B. Dissanayake participating at the national conference of All Ceylon Samurdhi Officers stated that the government was formed together with the United National Party and it was the United national Party that became the strength, for the president to be elected.

“If the President did not have both the SLFP and the UNP in Geneva, we would not have been able to survive the issues,” he said. He added that these are two parties with different policies and there are conflicts. However, in the midst of all this, President Sirisena is working with both these parties, he said.

He added that some say there is a new political party being formed, but this is easier said than done

“Some speak to us and say that they will not leave the party and they cannot leave this Front,” he said and further noted that if the party is in division, it will result in a loss that cannot be recovered from, for around twenty years
