Security along the Southern Expressway has been increased following incidents of rocks being thrown at vehicles.
According to the DIG of Traffic and Road Safety Amarasiri Senaratne, police patrol on bikes and cars have been increased on the Southern Expressway and in the surrounding areas as a result.
Two individuals have reportedly thrown rocks at vehicles travelling along the Southern Expressway at the 21 mile post in the Milleniya Police area. According to DIG Senaratne, six vehicles have been damaged in the incident.
Furthermore, the Panadura Police Division has begun investigations into the incident. The Director of Highway operations and
maintenance S. Openayake says that the incident is not a planned scheme. He also stated that investigations are currently underway to arrest those involved.
